Renter-friendly bathroom lighting

Rental bathrooms tend to fail in the same three ways. The fixture over the mirror is dim or glary; it lights your face only from above, so every shadow falls downward; and at night the only choice is the full glare of that fixture or darkness.

None of those needs an electrician. Each has a fix that is a bulb swap, a plug-in or a rechargeable light - things your lease almost certainly allows, and things that leave with you. The permission tiers are set out in can you change a light fixture in an apartment.

KGC G25 milky globe - the first thing to change. CRI 90+ at 2700K behind milky glass. Most rental vanity bars take globe bulbs, and a diffusing globe is what stops a bar that points at your face from glaring.
Cons: no lumen figure, only a 40W equivalence; frosting costs a little output.

Sunco G25 globe - if the bar needs more light. 500 published lumens at 2700K and CRI 90, dimmable. Where the KGC is about comfort, the Sunco is about output with an honest number on it.
Cons: clear filament glass glares if the bar faces you; 500 lumens each means you need several.

NIORSUN rechargeable sconces - light from the sides. 300 lumens each at a 3000K setting, dimmable, stated at 25 hours on full, mounted with adhesive or a screw. Cons: no damp rating published - keep them away from the shower; they need charging.

AUVON motion night light - for the 2am trip. Motion and dusk-to-dawn sensing, adjustable from 1 to 50 lumens, in warm white. Dark until you move, then just enough to see the floor.
Cons: takes the outlet; motion lights can trigger for pets.

Cons: output is given as an equivalence; still runs warm in a sealed dome.

Box and label the original bulbs. They go back in at move-out, and the new ones come with you - see taking your lighting with you.

Keep it dry. The rechargeable sconces and the night light here are not published as damp rated. Mount and plug them in by the mirror and the door, not beside the tub or shower.
