That is how the site is funded. There is no subscription, no paywall, no advertising and no sponsored content.

• Every buy button on this site is an affiliate link, and every one is marked. They carry rel="sponsored nofollow", they open in a new tab, and each carries a visible #ad label with a link back to this page.
• A disclosure appears above the first affiliate link on every page that carries one, not only down here in the footer. That is an FTC requirement and we treat it as one.
• Links route through our own redirect at /go/ before reaching the retailer, so a destination can be changed in one place if a product moves or a program changes. It adds no tracking of you beyond what the retailer already does.
• Our Amazon Associates tracking ID is fafsconceandsocket-20. That is what identifies a click as ours.
• Editorial links are never cloaked. A link to a manufacturer spec sheet or a published standard is a plain link and earns nothing.

The obvious question about a site funded this way is whether the money decides the picks. Our answer, and the mechanisms behind it:

• Commission rate never influences a recommendation. Where a retailer that pays us less is better for the buyer, that is the link we build. Buyer-first beats commission, and it is not close.
• No brand has paid to appear here and none can. There is no mechanism for paid placement.
• We accept no free products, which is easy given we do not test.
• Every roundup names something to skip, including the cases where the cheaper option is right and the cases where the answer is to buy nothing at all.
• Several pages here recommend a bulb swap over a purchase - the cheapest possible outcome for the reader and the worst one for us.

Prices shown on this site come from a live data feed and carry the date they were last verified. They change constantly and the retailer's price at the moment you buy is the one that applies.

Where we have no live price - because the feed is unavailable, or a product has no current offer - the page says "Check price on Amazon" rather than showing a figure. We never print a stale or estimated number. If a price has not been verified within 48 hours it is withdrawn automatically rather than shown.
